Exploring the Surroundings: Distances and Travel Times

Our location in Torre del Lago is the ideal base for exploring not only the Versilia coast but also some of the most famous art cities and natural wonders of Tuscany.


In Versilia

  • Viareggio (Promenade and Darsena): 10 minutes by car | 5 minutes by train

  • Viareggio (Viareggio Carnival): 10 minutes by car | 5 minutes by train

  • Pietrasanta (The “Little Athens”): 20 minutes by car

  • Forte dei Marmi (Shopping and Glamour): 25 minutes by car

  • Camaiore (Historic Center): 25 minutes by car


The Art Cities

  • Pisa (Piazza dei Miracoli and Airport): 25 minutes by car | 20 minutes by train

  • Lucca (The Walls and Historic Center): 30-35 minutes by car

  • Florence (Cradle of the Renaissance): 1 hour and 15 minutes by car | 1 hour and 30 minutes by train (recommended option)

  • Cinque Terre: Easily reachable by train from La Spezia (a 45-minute drive or train ride).


Nature and Landscapes

  • Lake Massaciuccoli (LIPU Oasis): 10 minutes by car

  • Migliarino, San Rossore, Massaciuccoli Natural Park: The entrance is just a few minutes’ drive away.

  • Apuan Alps (for hiking and trekking): The first slopes are reachable in 30-40 minutes by car.

  • Carrara Marble Quarries: 1 hour by car


Getting around: our Tips

  • On Foot and by Bicycle: Torre del Lago is a place to be enjoyed slowly. The bicycle is the ideal means to reach the beaches, the pine forest, and the Gran Teatro Puccini.

  • By Train: The “Torre del Lago Puccini” station is just a few minutes’ walk from our facilities. It’s perfect for visiting Viareggio, Pisa, and the Cinque Terre without the stress of traffic and parking.

  • By Car: The car is convenient for exploring the hinterland, such as Lucca or the Apuan Alps. Remember that parking in our surroundings is free, a real convenience!


Practical Information

  • Supermarkets and Shops: Just a few hundred meters away, you will find well-stocked supermarkets, bakeries, delis, and shops of all kinds.

  • Weekly Markets: For a local experience, don’t miss the area’s markets. The one in Torre del Lago is held on Friday morning, while the larger and more famous one in Viareggio takes place on Thursday morning.

  • Pharmacies: There are several pharmacies in the center of Torre del Lago, easily reachable on foot.

  • ATMs: You will find bank ATMs on the main streets of the town.


Must-See Experiences

  • The Puccini Festival: If you visit Versilia in the summer, attending an opera at the open-air theater on the lake is an unforgettable experience.

  • Aperitif in Darsena in Viareggio: At sunset, the Darsena of Viareggio comes alive. Enjoy an aperitif in one of the many venues overlooking the yachts.

  • Lecciona Beach: Between Torre del Lago and Viareggio stretches this wonderful free beach, part of the Natural Park. It is a wild and protected oasis, perfect for nature lovers.
